Terms and conditions of warranty

MeisterSinger GmbH & Co. KG (MeisterSinger) guarantees any person (Customer) who has purchased a watch manufactured by MeisterSinger from a MeisterSinger authorized retailer or from the online shop (https://www.meistersinger.com/) that this watch is free from defects in material or workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase, subject to the following terms and conditions. If, contrary to expectations, any such defect should occur within this period, MeisterSinger will either remedy the defect by repairing the watch at no cost to the Customer or supply the Customer with a new watch if repair is not possible.

Furthermore, MeisterSinger provides a two-year warranty on all warranty-related work performed by MeisterSinger, which begins from the date the watch is returned to the Customer.
However, the warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, especially on leather watch straps. Likewise, claims may not be made under this warranty if the watch exhibits any damage or defects caused by improper use, or if the watch exhibits characteristics that indicate external influences or intervention by unauthorized persons, such as improper repair.

MeisterSinger will bear the total cost of shipment if it identifies a defect covered by this warranty. If the Customer decides to send the watch by post, he/she is liable for all risks associated with shipment, particularly if the watch is lost or damaged in the process.

Applicable law

This warranty is subject to the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. Any statutory rights to which the Customer is entitled due to a defect in the watch are not affected by this warranty.

Repair

From the initial assessment to the final inspection, craftsmanship, watchmaking experience, exceptional thoroughness, and sensitivity are called for.

First, a master watchmaker will open your watch and make an assessment of its condition or defect. Sometimes the defect is quite obvious to see, but in certain cases, troubleshooting can be tricky. As soon as the defect has been identified, we will prepare a cost estimate for you. The repair itself will only be carried out after you have given your consent.

Parts may need to be removed, cleaned, oiled, or replaced, depending on our findings. The repair is followed by a functional check and a test of the movement’s accuracy; if necessary, the movement will be readjusted. Once your watch has been closed, we then test it for water resistance. Your watch is then placed on a watch winder to ascertain whether the automatic movement winds up to the full extent of its power reserve. Only when everything is perfect does the watchmaker give the case body a final polish and authorize the watch to be returned. During the process, all the relevant information about the repair is stored and the watch is then sent on its way back to you.

As we are aware that you want your watch back as soon as possible and in perfect condition, we do not waste unnecessary time at any stage of the inspection process. But in the end, it is the desire for perfection that drives us. The inspection usually takes five weeks.

Inspection

A watch is a complicated mechanical instrument. It runs day in, day out, and in many cases for years without ever stopping. Just as a car cannot be driven for 200,000 kilometers without being serviced, your watch requires regular maintenance. We recommend an inspection every four to five years.

An inspection consists of the following work: Complete disassembly, standard demagnetization of the movement, ultrasonic cleaning of all movement parts in special cleaning baths, replacement of any worn parts, assembly of the movement, lubrication of all bearings with the appropriate lubricants, checks of all functions, fine adjustment, cleaning of the case, replacement of the crown, winding shaft, and seals, and, if necessary, replacement of the barrel, restoration of water resistance, and a final inspection over several days.

Please note: The case can be refurbished by grinding and polishing as an additional service.

Only when everything is perfect does the watchmaker give the case body a final polish and authorize the watch to be returned. During the process, all the relevant information about the repair is stored and the watch is then sent on its way back to you.
